Meme the Monkey
September 9th, 2010
Ulysses never showed any interest in stuffed animals, or anything other than blocks until about a week ago. My mom had given him this hideous howler monkey (and yes, it had a button you could press to hear a horrifying screeching sound) with a rasta hat and dreads. Seriously guys, it was hideous. But Uly took to it and started carrying it around everywhere. Once it came with us to the doctor””s office, I started to worry that we would soon be carrying around this hideous monkey for the next few years. So, I panicked, and whipped out this monkey with fabric I had on hand (a gorgeous mohair my boss gave me that she brought back from Italy, and a tan wool sweater I cut up some time ago) to look as similar as it could to the Jamaica monkey, sans costume and noisemaker. I nervously put the Jamaica monkey away after he went to sleep a few nights ago and left this one in its place and he hasn””t seemed to notice the difference. Success!!
Oh, and that”s another recycled t-shirt I made that he”s wearing.

This was really funny to read. The monkey looks really cute and not having to listen to the rasta monkey is so worth it.
