Current Project: State Bird Quilt
October 9th, 2005
My current, and largest project to date is a state bird quilt. I’ve never attempted a quilt before, in part because I like projects that I can finish in one day. The idea of starting and finishing a project is part of why I craft. That said, this has been a growing venture for me. If it looks like crap when I’m finally done, someone or something will pay.

[...] I made this over the weekend for a friend who is expecting a new babe very soon. After putting this together I was reminded of a cloth book I used to have as a child. The entire thing was made of fabric, felt, and embroidered. It had little puzzles inside, like a large mushroom that had baby mushrooms that fit neatly inside; a sweet girl who needed redressing; and a house that needed its roof and windows placed in just the right spots. I recall the pieces being made of felt and I recall spending hours upon hours with this book. I think I might take this on, but have a feeling the time commitment is similar to my quilt, which is sitting in the office looking forlorn. Can one ever have too many projects? [...]

I have quilt embroidery transfers for a 50 state bird and flower quilt. The transfers are old and yellowed, but unused. Email me if you are still interested.
