Around the Week

I wanted to show you the amount of snow that was piled on top of everything in Whistler, BC. I love that it’s layered. It almost looks like frosting.

I made this wall organizer some time ago. It hangs in the entryway in an attempt to keep the bills organized. Even though I just did the bills two weeks ago, it’s stuffed to the max with new paperwork and things I have to pay. It makes me want to simplify my life. I never thought I’d be the kind of comfort creature who required DSL, cable with a DVR, Netflix, a cell phone with a camera, a car, and far more. I feel a little trapped by my supposed comforts: all the shows recorded, waiting to be watched, the movies just lying around, hundreds of craft blogs to check and drool over. It’s time for me to think about scaling back, especially with spring and summer just around the corner.

I bought this book a couple of weeks ago, only to find half of the patterns missing–including the first project I had in mind. But, I do love this book. I’ve started the patchwork bag and am having such a blast making myself something. I even splurged on a yard of Amy’s fabric. Don’t you love (read: hate) her? She has fantastic style, can sew with the best of them, is creative, has published a book, and is beautiful to boot!
