Ginnie Bag
August 21st, 2006

This is a diaper bag for a cousin of mine who is a teacher with a big, beautiful family that has a new addition. After all was cut, pocketed, and hemmed, I started thinking that maybe the bag was too big. Can a diaper bag be too big? I’m not sure; I don’t have little ones. I’m very proud of this creation. I took very special care with straight cutting, straight seams, finished pockets, meticulously stitched appliques, and a perfect binding. It took forever! But, the finished product looks very professional and this sweet mom deserves something extra nice.

The inside has seven clear pockets and one non-clear for personal affects.

The backside of the bag has one large pocket for all her school papers. I used a beautiful whale trim from Les Bons Ribbons.

What a fun bag – I’m sure it will be loved. I’m pretty sure it can’t be too big if it is well organized & you’ve definitely given the pockets for organization! : )

How cute! I love the applique. I think this will be a very useful bag for the recipient – it can’t be too big or have too many pockets!

A diaper bag (or any bag you carry while you have little ones) can never be too big. I used to carry the tiniest little handbags before I had a child and now. . . oh wow. You’d be surprised at all that gets toted around with us!! This is so pretty–I love that ribbon and applique. Did you use a pattern or was this your own design? Your cousin is going to love this beautiful gift.

I’m curious about what you did with the bottom. It looks like you added a couple of … compartments? … to help the bag keep its shape and for more storage, perhaps? Anyway, it’s very cute.I think you’re liking greens as much as pink these days!
