More Wallet Fun!

June 26th, 2006

I made two more wallets as gifts. I don’t really know why I continue making these, they’re a bit excruciating. I think they turn out super cute, so I guess I will press on. Plus, I’ve finally found something I can make that boys like, too. Note exhibit A. The inside is lined with the cutest retro baseball print ever.

The green wallet is for Miss Bugheart. Her and I agreed to a swap and this wallet was part of my package. I made the little bug — the creepiest bug I could conjure — out of felt. She asked for a monochromatic wallet and this is about as monochromatic as things get around here.

I’ve been terribly absorbed in books lately, in the past week I’ve finished “The Time Travelers Wife,” “The Kalahari Typing School for Men,” and I’m half finished with “The Mermaid Chair.” All of which I highly recommend.

The quilt is almost finished, too. My dear, sweet Aja whisked me away to fabric land and I am now well on the way to having one completed square-ish quilt. Hooray!

I thoroughly enjoyed The Time Travelers Wife – “their” sushi restaurant is just around the corner from me, one of these days I’ll have to give it a try. In a similar vein, The Lake House was a good ‘time travel’ story.

Get a teflon foot! My life has not been the same since. The oilcloth/plastic will just glide through!

Dacia,-love the wallet and that retro bball material is super boy cool
THanks fo the book recomendations- i am overdue for a day of getting lost in a wonderful book.
Your bug reminds me of a desert spider we have here called the vinagrew. They are exquisitely hideous and can be quite large-some say looking like scorpians;however, once you have an 8 inch scorpian sitting on the wall of your entry door-the vinegrew pales in compare!
Hooray for dear Aja performing the fabric transport Rescue! I am excited to see your new quilt =)

I am almost through time traveller’s wife, and I LOVE it. i love getting lost in it every night before bed. And i read mermaid chair, loved that too. So obviously, we must have similar taste in books, so now i’m going to have to check out the other one you suggested!! (love those wallets!!)

Ahhhh I recognize that Tracy Porter fabric, I made a table cloth out of it… so your wallet matches my table cloth… Cool.

Love the wallets! That “boy” one is fantastic!

I’m reading the Mermaid Chair right now and REALLY enjoying it. I also read the Time Travelers Wife–it was OK, but I didn’t love it. I don’t really know why.

Yay! I adored The Time Traveler’s Wife. My sister-in-law had pressed it upon me as A Good Book (I sometimes dread others’ recommendations when I don’t know their reading tastes). But I read it – laughed, cried, rejoiced – read it twice more, and then bought my own copy. I’ve been pressing it upon my own friends ever since :)

Also – I love the bug wallet!

Love the wallets, you do a great job with them. I want to experiment soon with that plastic. Is that the iron on or do you just sew it on?
