Cotton Candy Quilt

March 7th, 2006

This is the first quilt that I have ever made and I am so thrilled with it! What a rewarding experience this has been. I love the colors and the way it turned out. The cottons are so soft I just want to cuddle up and fall asleep. It was nice to make something so girly too; it makes me very happy to be surrounded by so much pink and polka dots. Making quilts is a more expensive project than the other things I do, but not so pricey I can’t do it again. The whole thing cost $45 including trim, batting, and 20 yards of fabric (it’s massive 93″ x 93″).

After I had the whole thing together and was trying a new recipe, Mexican Chicken Soup from the March issue of Real Simple magazine, I noticed how similar the color palette was and it got me thinking how random things become inspiration without registering.

Hi! I just discovered your site and love it! The quilt is truly beautiful and I can’t believe you finished it so quickly! I’ve never quilted before but you have inspired me to try, although I’m not really sure where to begin! Are there any sites or books that helped you put it together? Thanks and great job!

Dacia, it’s just absolutely gorgeous. It looks like a box of meringues in a French pastry shop. I love it so much. Your guests will feel like princesses.
