Block for Baby
February 6th, 2006
I made this over the weekend for a friend who is expecting a new babe very soon. After putting this together I was reminded of a cloth book I used to have as a child. The entire thing was made of fabric, felt, and embroidered. It had little puzzles inside, like a large mushroom that had baby mushrooms that fit neatly inside; a sweet girl who needed redressing; and a house that needed its roof and windows placed in just the right spots. I recall the pieces being made of felt and I recall spending hours upon hours with this book. I think I might take this on, but have a feeling the time commitment is similar to my quilt, which is sitting in the office looking forlorn. Can one ever have too many projects?

That’s a great gift for a baby. Soft, and it’s a learning tool. I remember having a fabric book too. Pop up books were fun as well. The art of book making…that’s a whole ‘nother craft!

What a great gift – the babe is lucky to be receiving it!
Did the letters that you selected have any special meaning for the babe?
