Baby Blanket
September 23rd, 2011
I put this little wrap blanket together for a new little girl that was born over a month ago. She is sweet and a doll and I was not able to get anything together for her until this. So, a baby blanket is now made! I’ve stopped putting batting in the baby blankets and instead use flannel on the backs. They seem too heavy to wrap up a little one in (and come in handy for wiping up fluids)–more of a put-your-baby-on-the-floor thing, which I think is less useful. What do you think?
I was trying to channel Kate Spade as a baby blanket. I just adore the bright green and girly pink combos she uses. It’s not quite as sophisticated as something she would make, but I used mostly what I had on hand and I do like that pieced look.
I’ve had some time to get quite a few projects done recently, so I have lots to share. Work has been slow, so I’ve found myself at home, alone (mama holy grail) with time to twiddle my thumbs or run the sewing machine to my heart’s desire.

Dacia, your quilt is beautiful! I definitely think you did a great job channelling Kate Spade – the pink & green combo paired with those clean lines = right on! I like the idea of making a baby quilt without batting… I like it when blankets are immediately flexible and not stiff… more cozy that way!
